My name is Sue Jackson and I am the Owner of Balance, the Countryside Gym. I am a qualified, but retired PT and I had a vision of a gym outside the busy towns and cities that would appeal to all.
The ethos here is for a small inclusive space for both Trainers and clients to enjoy Exercise in all forms.
Some gyms can feel noisy, threatening and full of lycra clad iPod listening people which is not what we are about!
We appeal to those who enjoy small classes or personal training in a private space, with friendly and well qualified trainers to help you achieve your goals. Or just to keep you moving and meeting like minded people in a countryside environment.

I’m Victoria, a certified PT passionate about helping people get stronger, fitter, and more confident. At Balance The Countryside Gym, I offer 1-to-1 and small group sessions tailored to your goals.
Join me every Friday 9:30–10:15am for my Kettlebell Class — a fun, full-body workout that builds strength, endurance, and mobility using dynamic kettlebell moves. Suitable for all levels, it’s a great way to finish the week feeling strong and energised.

Hi, I am Sarah. I am a Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral Coach. I run two circuits classes and a kettlebell class at Balance, along with Personal Training sessions. I also run PT sessions in client's homes, bringing a whole host of equipment with me.
My aim for classes and PT sessions is to make the client feel comfortable, confident and safe. Exercise is not just about a healthy body, it is amazing for mental health and I am firm believer that movement can help improve both.

I trained in Hatha, Power Vinyasa and Yin and so I bring these different elements into each class bringing energy and vitality back into the body as well as bringing a feeling a calm and rest to the nervous system. Strengthening and stretching out our mental and physical bodies.
Each class is suitable from beginners to the more advanced with lots of modifications and variations.

I’m Emma – mum of two, certified personal trainer, and passionate about helping women build strength, confidence, and fitness habits that fit real life. I believe in fitness for all, regardless of ability or age.
From competing in athletics to representing Great Britain in bob skeleton, sport has always been a big part of my life. I specialise in helping women and mums at all fitness levels – whether you’re starting, returning to exercise, or aiming to reach new goals.
I run a HYROX style class on Mondays at 7 pm and Mum Fit (pre/postnatal) on Wednesdays at 10 am, along with 1:1 coaching and online support. My sessions focus on building strength, toning, and boosting energy in a friendly, realistic, and sustainable way.

I'm Katherine, founder of KC Fitness and Nutrition. After completing my Masters in Chemistry I used my understanding of science and nutrition to work in food product development for 9 years. However, I knew I wanted to use my knowledge and skills to help people more.
I decided to leave my corporate job to start KC Fitness and Nutrition, a unique, holistic, science-focused approach to exercise and nutrition.
I'm also proud to be a caring part of my client's support system to help build their self confidence in and out of the gym.

Joe Green
YIN YOGA
My yoga journey began with something simple, I just wanted to touch my toes. What started as a way to build strength and flexibility soon became so much more. Yoga quickly became a powerful practice for both my mind and body, teaching me lessons that extend far beyond the mat.
Over the years, I’ve trained in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Rocket, and Yin Yoga, and I’ve come to deeply value the importance of balance in all areas of life ... where there is Yang, there must also be Yin. This belief is at the heart of my teaching.
At Balance Studio, I guide students through grounding Yin Yoga practices designed to bring both body and mind into stillness. In my classes, we hold postures for a few minutes at a time to gently target the connective tissues, release tension, and create space, both physically and mentally. My goal is to help students leave feeling calm, balanced, and better equipped to handle whatever life brings their way.

I am qualified and insured, pole fitness instructor. I have been part of the pole industry since 2011 as an instructor, performer, competitor and judge.
Pole Fitness is a great way to work out, get fit and tone up while building body confidence and making new friends.
My aim is to create classes that are supportive, inclusive and fun.
Classes focus on a mixture of skills and tricks and transitions on static and spinning pole, as well as using flow to build stamina and strength.
When I am not on the pole, I am balancing a full time job in social care and running family life with my daughter and doggo.

Kara Herbert
YOGA, DANCE & INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE (IHM) PRACTITIONER
Qualified in Dance, Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Chakra Balancing, Yin and Mindfulness, Anatomy & Physiology, as well as IHM.
I’ve been teaching for over 20 years and registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals as a Senior Teacher with over 500hrs of training, also working for Pro-Trainer company Academy For Yoga Training.
I enjoy all styles of dance and yoga and recognise the need to continuously re-energise my practice by trying new and different things, attending yoga workshops and training regularly. This exploration through my own practice and further training influences my teaching. I am adept at delivering sessions to a range of individuals from varying ages, bodies and experience and always aim to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere to my classes as well as challenging and embracing the needs of each individual.
I teach weekly Hatha Yoga classes at Balance since its opening, as well as Yin & Restorative Yoga workshops, retreats and 121's.

Paul Carroll
HEALTH & SAFETY INSTRUCTOR
Boxercise is run by Paul Carroll, an active outdoor activities instructor and former athletics coach who took over the group when Sue Jackson retired.
Boxercise Classes 6pm on Monday Nights
Boxercise sessions are self-guided exercise classes based on Boxing moves, skills and techniques. We always warm up and cool down and the core session is usually a series of 4 repetitions and sets each rep lasting 60 seconds and the rest 15 seconds. There is a minute between sets and in total 8 sets.
We use the boxing pads and gloves provided plus inners and when using weights either dumbbells or kettle bells. There is usually one body core set per session.
The Boxercise class lasts 60 minutes and is carried out at your own pace. This is not a circuit training session although we do sometimes evolve into strength or cardio sessions.
This is not instructor based and has been running successfully on a self-guided basis for 3 years.
We are a small friendly and fit group of Timsbury residents and will eagerly welcome new members.
